Practice & Lineage

Yangti vision

Yangti Yoga Retreat Center specializes in completion stage practices especially dark retreat and practices that correspond with bardo and preparing for one's death

The practice of Ati Yoga, Dzogchen in Tibetan, is one of the most direct meditation paths that lead one ever closer to recognizing the natural, spontaneous complete liberation that is at the core of our being. There are many unique cycles of approach to this meditative path. We focus on three cycles of practice which lay the foundation for the practice of trekchö – an advanced Dzogchen practice.

YUTHOK NYINGTHIG

The first is associated with the Yuthok Nyingthik which originated from the 12th century Tibetan master, Yuthok Yonten Gonpo who was also the revealer of the four medical tantras and as such is regarded as the founder of the Tibetan Medical system known as Sowa Rigpa.

PRACTICE PATH

There is a supportive path leading the practitioner towards the practice of Dzogchen and its corresponding practices. We begin with the preliminary practices, moving into generation stage, gain some stability in completion stage practices, and finally to Dzogchen which progresses through the Dzogchen foundational practices such as Rushen and others to the practice of Trekchö, and finally dark retreat.

Pure perfect presence is the source of everything. All phenomena are totally perfect, with nothing excluded. Beyond antidotes, presence is not governed by anything else.

VAIROCHANA

RUSHEN & TREKCHO

Rushen is a Dzogchen preliminary practice that aides in the exhaustion of the inner causes of illusory perception thereby leading to greater purification of Body, Speech and Mind. This practice specifically helps us to eliminate the habitual attachments to what often feels like an almost automatic samsaric arising as beings trapped within the six realms. The practice of Rushen is a powerful way of creating the auspicious circumstances that aide in liberating the way in which the three gates (body, speech, and mind) and the three bodies (Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya) are experienced.
