About the event

Join us for The Art of Inner Freedom, an interwoven series of creative exercises guided by Dharma Arts Instructor Delia Mudge coupled with spacious meditation practices led by Lama Justin and various instructors. Come as you are, with any or no level of meditation or artistic skills!

Each week we will be introduced to unique creative exercises and contemplations as a means of integrating practice through somatic expression and art creation. Allowing for a unique form of both creativity, meditation, and ritual giving the practitioner a new framework of discovering one’s innate wisdom, tapping into pith instructions, exploring states of non conceptual knowing, communication, and joy.

This is a time for non goal oriented non traditional practice and spontaneous play as a means of connecting with the concepts of Ati Yoga and meditation through creativity. In this interweaving of dharma and art we establish a nurturing space, inviting joy and the clarity of innate wisdom to arise. By calming the busy mind, the heart can naturally open through our sense perceptions and our relationship to what is within and around us.

Participants come away with a piece of meaningful art that’s frameable or refrigerator worthy, as a visual reminder that you can practice the Art of Inner Freedom in your life!

This Month's Topic:

Form and the preciousness of our human existence; using the Art elements of Form and Texture along with Nature’s elements of Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Space

This month's class, we’ll be guided to engage in creative process and interpretation through sculpture using the tactile rich medium of paper mache, suitable for all experience levels. Through this process we will explore form and developing non-judgemental appreciation for this rare, precious human existence as our vehicle for awakening and freedom.  We can see that each of us are the source of our awakening and the designers of a unique path.

She is an Authorized Dharma Art Teacher, as a student of Steve Saitzyk, lineage holder of the, independent, Shambhala Art International organization established by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. She has learned from numerous Dharma Teachers both in the U.S and abroad.  She attended the California College of the Arts in the San Francisco Bay Area studying drawing, painting and fiber arts, with graduate studies in Art Education and Community Art Education at Eastern Illinois University and DEI, California Educator credential coursework, at UCLA.

She has taught Art for inner city public high schools, for academically ranked suburban public high schools and has been a Teaching Artists for multiple Arts organizations, such as LACMA and Angels Gate Cultural Center in Los Angeles and programs for adult art programs with Engage Inc, Art Space @ work and numerous workshops she has presented independently. And recently worked as an Art Educator through Imagine Learning, a virtual, nationally based program. Before entering the field of Art Education, she worked as an Illustrator for a leading Book Publisher and later Newspaper for over a decade. She has maintained a lifelong vocation as a Fine Artist through Drawing, Painting, Fiber Arts, and Music. Her current work can be seen and learned about at www.deliadever.com

She strives to create an inclusive and welcoming space for all, through gentle facilitation, a supportive container and intentional themes to share. Limitless and authentic understanding can arise through contemplation, artistic exercises and the art made. This has the ability to support one’s practice in a complimentary and unique way. Through virtual, creative Dharma Art classes, she wishes to offer a place to simply be in the flow of freedom and spaciousness in action, through community and art, as a wonderful way for Sangha to come together.
